I'm not sure if it was the writing, the editing, the direction, or what, but from scene to scene, the personalities and actions of the characters seemed to be totally random and disconnected from what had been set up previously. It was like some sort of weird experimental existential soap opera.
I guess seeing in the credits that there were four writers made more sense than the plot. Most inexplicable of all: the sister, played by Donna Reed, who mainly glared angrily at Van Johnson throughout the entire movie, for a reason that wasn't revealed until the next to final scene.
But Elizabeth Taylor, at age 22 playing a much older character, was ravishingly beautiful and as an actress, far better than her material.
Just saw The Imitation Game (a movie about Alan Turing). Pretty incredible movie. It is amazing what he did with his team. It is tragic how his life came to an end. It is amazing to think what the world may look like today if his secret life was discovered before he completed his work.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Surprisingly a good film that I actually enjoyed that was in my brother's catalog of movies. I really enjoyed the music in the film.

I thought so too. Did some further research on him and apparently he was off the "drug therapy" for at least a year before the end. And it seems there is some question as to whether it was suicide or accident. Excellent movie.
