Grace is Gone. What a horrible movie this is. I understand the point of the movie but even for a drama it was boring.

Also, what a great memory for the kids. Get them to associate their mother's death with Enchanted Kingdom. What a piece of turd this movie was.

True. But I wonder if today's older generation is as much taken with staying home as the last generation. I don't go to the movies because the films don't interest me. I read the list of films in this thread that people spend time watching and then saying they are basically just passable. No one seems thrilled, but I guess younger folks just need to go somewhere?

However, I do suspect if films were made that had interesting characters, a good story, and classy presentation--older people would come out. Build it and thay will come? I went to the theater for these films in the past few years: Brokeback Mountain, the Queen, Slumdog Millionaire, Mamma Mia, Frost Nixon, Doubt, It's Complicated (thank God for Meryl) Meet the Fockers
and Shutter Island-- that is about it. All good--all entertaining.

If someone thinks Shutter Island was boring--that says it all. Boring??? I saw Men in Black just to see what the other side of the street was like--maybe I was missing out on something I thought---now that was boring-----

So--no movies--rotten TV--and the books are going to Kindle on a screen that gives me a headache---maybe I will go back to work!

I saw two films yesterday. "Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky" , ravishing visually, superb acting but lacking in warmth somehow , a beautiful film, gorgeous cinematography but neither characters exuded much emotional appeal.

Then "Inception" which I found dull and banal in the extreme, predictable and over -rated and lacking in subtlety and humanity. Both disappointing in different ways though at least I wasn't that bored during "Coco" .

I saw the Expendables on Friday when it came out. I was waiting for a long time to see what this movie would be like with all the stars coming together and if it would work out, but man, it was worth the wait. Best action movie I've seen in a while.

This weekend on On Demand I watched

Death of a Funeral - great cast, movie was easy watching but really didn't deliver given the cast. I would have thought with Chris Rock writing it would have been better.

The Runaways - Don't know that much about Kristen Stewart but I've seen the Twilight trailers where she doesn't seem to act very well but she did pretty well as Joan Jett. The Dakota girl was great as the lead singer too. Not a big plot arc or anything but pretty good for what it was.
