Let's not forget those folks just tee-hee'ing it up during the cineplex welcome clips, concession ads, and trailers.

But, on the flip side, what about those folks who easily cry during movies? You hear the moist sniffs behind you as well as the stuttered sighing (that "huh-huh-huh-huh" thing ) and the scene is just, I'M SORRY, not that tragic. You almost want to look back, pass 'em a hankie and say, "Are you OK back there? Is there someone I should call?"

I might laugh at any time during a movie, but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the intended or unintended emotional impact of the scene.

As a former film maker, I might see things like a certain camera angle, or a particular aspect of the scene's lighting, or some other directorial decision that I find especially creative or well done and it makes me laugh a little.

It's not because I find it funny, it's because I like what I'm seeing and it makes me happy that it was done well.

The trailer part is so true.

I agree.
It's like they are paid to laugh.

How about when "Mommie Dearest" came out?

Half the audience was appalled that Joan was so mean to Christina.

The other half was laughing hysterically.
