I wanted to go get something to eat after the movie and follow it up with a smoke but that was strange since I have never smoked. LOL

Agreed - he was great in the role.

I actually wish the film had been entirely about Julia Child - must read "My Life In France" - I found the Julie story quite dull and her character annoying.

I really liked this movie, although didn't love it. I thought it was a little too long. I read the book too. I actually liked the movie Julie better than the real Julie. The real-life Julie is much more spastic and whiny and has a mouth like a sailor.

It's just a real head scratcher though when Julia loved French cooking so much then to dull it with a cig while eating. Yuck, but I have seen some people smoke while eating.
Obviously never a smoker. Quite 10 years ago and still miss it. If I had a crystal ball and knew I wouldn't get COPD, emphysema, lung cancer etc. I'd pick it back up in a minute.

Have to remember to look for the book My life in France, didn't know there was one.

I liked Meryl Streep and her costar's performance but mostly disliked the movie. Could've skipped the rest.

I was left disappointed by the movie. It was cute, but I was more interested in Julia Child's life.
Yes, Julie kept her head up in the end, but I really didn't care.

Have any of you read the book or read Julies blog?

They really shined up her character for the movie, to put it lightly. (Julies that is). I can see why Julia didn't like her.

No, I haven't read her blogs, or the book. It doesn't sound like it would make any better of impression on me?

Nice movie about Julia, but I'm hoping for a movie about Justin Wilson.

Gee, I wonder who'd they get to play him?

I doubt it. In the book, which she herself wrote, she is a very crass "lady" w/ a foul mouth.
