Arranged

Wow, I really liked this movie.
I would have been skeptical of it except the person who recommended it is very reliable, and she was right. The funny thing is that when I heard the plot, I thought how phony--but the film is based on a true story.

At school where they both teach, an Orthodox Jewish woman befriends a Muslim woman. They discover that both of them are becoming involved in arranged marriages.

This sounds so contrived and cheesy, but it really was a well done film.

Thanks for this recommendation. Serendipity, Netflix suggested I would like the film based on favorites Cinema Paradiso, Sense And Sensibility and Whale Rider (???) We'll see - it's in my queue

Default Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)

What fun, what spectacle and what a great story and characters! I loved The Curse of the Black Pearl. This one is even better, continuing the original saga. I look forward to At World's End.

Default The First Deadly Sin (1980)

Makes one remember what a well crafted movie is. A police procedural thriller, Frank Sinatra's Sgt. Det. Delany nearing retirement faces two challenges as a serial killer stalks New York while Delany's wife is seriously ill in the hospital. Based on the novel by Lawrence Sanders. 5 stars

Mutiny on the Bounty. Good movie, great acting. A bit long, but once you're watching it, it doesnt really seem like that long.

For a good family movie, I'd recommend Water Horse.

I agree that Shutter is not very good. It reminded me of The Grudge, except worse.

The Amityville Horror (1979). Not as scary as I would've liked. There were some spooky parts, but overall I wasn't as freaked out as I thought I would be. Its more chilling to think it actually happened, without having to watch the movie.

Gattaca. It was ok. Not spectacular, but not horrible either. A bit predictable at times. But I love Ethan Hawke (and Jude Law's not bad on the eyes either).

Tristan & Isolde. Love this movie. I'm not one for romantic films, but this one I do love for some reason. I thought it was nicely done, despite some mixed reviews.

I've had quiet a movie day.. my eyes are exhausted.
