One of my favorite movies that clearly adult-themed and too complicated for children, but completely "clean" with no profane content whatsoever, is Good Night and Good Luck (2005). It's rated PG, and probably would have earned a G rating if it weren't for the cigarette use.

"Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. In Memory of Lance Corporal Chance Russell Phelps.
The Party Peter Sellers
Crosscreek

Perhaps we've become too used to the language in today's films.Maybe that at least in part accounts for how and why some might consider a just plain down-to-earth good drama as being "boring."

I use kids-in-mind.com to determine what movies I'll watch, or let my kids watch. It would probably be helpful for you too.

From the website: Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age, but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE and PROFANITY on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest, depending on quantity and context.

So if a movie is ranked 0.0.0 then it's as G as G can get. 10.10.10 is as profane, graphic and gory as it can possibly be. First number is sexual content, second number is violence, and third number is profanity.

Some examples that may be ones you would be okay with that were released recently:
I Can Only Imagine (1.4.1)
A Wrinkle in Time (1.4.1)
Forever My Girl (3.2.2)
Darkest Hour (1.3.3)
The Greatest Showman (3.3.2)

Some from last year now out on video:
A United Kingdom (3.3.2)
A Dog's Purpose (2.4.1)
The Great Wall (1.7.3)
Hidden Figures (1.3.3)
A Monster Calls (1.4.1)
Silence (2.8.2)
Doctor Strange (1.5.3)
The Light Between Oceans (5.3.1)
Queen of Katwe (2.3.1)

I highly recommend the site even though it is a parents guide. I use it even to decide if *I'm* going to watch a movie.

See Wonder - good values, imo. Yes, Dog's Purpose was a very good movie that kept my interest throughout.
