Sometimes even serious actors have to make dreck to pay the bills. Everyone's gotta eat....

After watching the trailer, that's exactly what I said to my husband "I guess he needed the money!"

I feel that way about romantic comedies.

I'm excited about 2012 but lukewarm about Cusack in it. But it could have been worse. It could have been Matthew Broderick.

We're going to see 2012 if the reviews don't stink. This kind of movie needs a huge screen and big sound effects of the theater don't you think?

John Cusack has only done two semi-decent movies in years: 1408 and Identity. He is like the male version of Jennifer Aniston IMO. It has been 10 years since he made good movies such as The Grifters, Grosse Pointe Blank, Being John Malkovich.

Emmerich is known for these spectacular films with special effects that blow one away.
The concept of the film is at best thin- the 'Great Alignment' or whatever that happens every 26,000 in the Mayan calender-

This 26,000 year cycle is also the time of the 'Platonic Year' or the 'Great Year' the time it takes for the March equinox to travel through every constellation of the Zodiac, in the process of 'Precession'.

Default 2012 Now In Theaters and the previews With It

Saw it today. Great special effects and action. If you are going to see it, it has to be at the theater. Mediocre story. Miscast. Not buying Danny Glover as President. John Cusack is a little too low key/wussy for the part he plays. Amanda Peet makes me think of bad girl not sweet mom. Woody Harrelson plays a nutty guy - that one is fine as is mean guy, played by Oliver Platt. Never saw Chiwetel Ejiofor before but he was fine in his part.

Speaking of miscast, saw Jake Gyllenhaal playing some kind of action guy in Prince of Persia trailer.

I also hear that Jude Law will play Sherlock Holmes. Now that sounds like a really good casting idea.

The Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins looks good. But, I think The Road looks the most promising.

Actually, there is an ad for the National Guard that runs before the 2012 movie that's one of the best ads production-wise, that I have ever seen. Not kidding. It's long but it's really good. Whoever did it should be making movies.

We just got back from seeing 2012 and had a great time. If you are looking for a movie with never seen before special effects, a few laughs, a handful of shmaltz and a plot that wouldn't challenge anyone's ability to follow, this is the movie for you. It is about 2 1/2 hours long and the time went by fast. If you liked Day After Tomorrow you will like this one better.

Thanks...I'm going, by the way, Will Smith would have been terrific in it....
