Still the parts with Buster Keaton never made it on the finished film , as His name is in the credits but his face never appears even in the newer version on DVD , as His part was cut out and lost.....
Thats sad.... I wonder if his scene is in tact on the first VHS release? (Or if ya found a copy recorded from analogue cable in the 80s)
I saw this when it premiered in the theaters when I was a kid, hysterical funny movie. Still enjoy watching it today. I lived in Long Beach, CA when they were filming parts of it and remember them closing down Long Beach Blvd and downtown for filming. Great movie, a classic.

Heard that they asked Stan Laurel to come on the film but he reclined because Hardy was passed on and Stan said He looked old ......
Not true. Keaton's small part (it was always small) is there, although it's not the role he was originally to get.
That,The great escape and titanic are some of the longest movies!!
Ben-Hur is another long one. Years ago before cable, they would show it once a year around Easter "without commercial interruption" and the whole family would watch together in the living room.
LOL, I love that movie, although it looks a little hokey today.
They should do a fan lookalike type reenactment of scenes from the movie. No car chases, naturally, but the arguments were hysterical. Make it a contest/ convention.
