Seabiscuit. The horse that was too little, the jockey that was too big.
The country that was on its knees.
“Just because it’s a little broken doesn’t mean you give up on a life, says Chris Cooper's character.
Corny, but very inspirational.

  • The Passion of Joan of Arc - For grace in the face of terror.
  • Sunset - But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
  • The Bicycle Thief - For the lengths we go to for our children.
  • The Apu Trilogy - For all the people and places in our childhood we lose when we become adults.
  • Lost in Translation - For those brief encounters with the perfect person at the right time.
  • Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone/Bruce) - For everything working out alright in the end.
  • Latter Days - For what kids can be now that they couldn't when I was one.
  • Seven Samurai - For nobility.
  • Lord of the Rings - For Valor.

I loved Driving Miss Daisy. It only proves that real friendship, like true love, can over come racial, financial and social barriers.

I forgot to add "The Rabbit-proof Fence " an absolute triumph about hope and love and cultural genocide ( about two Aboriginal little girls walking "home" almost 1500 miles along the rabbit fence which covers a large part of Australia, after escaping from a re- education centre ( read, we'll try to make you white )and stolen from their parents - a true story by the way) .

If it doesn't break your heart and yet uplifts you all at the same time, I don't know what will ...
The two little actresses were superb and absolute naturals and Kenneth Brannagh was superb too.
A must see for all.

I guess you could say it's a movie about character.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for the same reason.
Had you included "Five Easy Pieces," you would have listed my three all-time favorites.

My most inspirational movie - "We Were Soldiers Once."

The real-life heroes portrayed in the film displayed true American warrior values of honor, valor, and love for one's brother.

Alive - not a feel-good movie, but definitely puts your problems into perspective (good book, too).

Amelie

Rocky - I always root for the underdog!

I always tear up at Bill Pullman's speech on Independance Day.

Have to think about that a bit, but one that comes to mind is "Chariots of Fire."
I love that one!

Also, I loved...

"Whale Rider"
"Dead Poets Society"
"Conversations with God"

...and too many others to name

Rented "The Pursuit of Happyness" but have to watch it soon
