What's your favorite movie of the past ten years?
For me, no question..... The Dark Knight.
Perfect cast. Great story. Amazing directing. Great marketing. And one hell of a final performance....

Hard to choose but the list would include : "The Heartbeat Detector" , "A very long engagement" , "Joyeux Noel", "Hotel Rwanda", "Good night and Good Luck", "The Wind that shakes the Barley", "The Class", "Waltz with Bashir",and"Captain Abu Raed" .

Movies that come to mind--the first 3 made a huge impression on me:
Into the Wild
Milk
Brokeback Mountain
Pan's Labyrinth
City of God
Gosford Park
Seabiscuit

Million Dollar Baby One of clint eastwoods finest perfomances. I like stories about redemption and unlikely friendships.

I almost put that one, certainly its message seems appropriate and timely these days, and Day-Lewis was magnificent--but my list was becoming rather long.
This movie is often lumped together with No Country for Old Men--or set against it.
If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick There Will Be Blood.

Well they are similar in a lot of ways. Things like pacing, location, tone, etc. It's tough because NCFOM is better in some ways and TWBB is better in others, but nothing in NCFOM can compare to Daniel Day-Lewis' performance. In fact, I think there are very few (maybe 5-7) performances that can compare throughout all of cinema's decades.

I presume we're talking about mainstream movies from major Hollywood studios. It was not a great decade. I just went thorugh my own 10s at IMDB, and the best of the lot was:
"You Can Count on Me"
Runner-up:
"Thirteen"
Best Indie:
"Primer"
Best imports:
"Little Fish" (Australia)
"Worlds Apart " (Denmark)
"Leonera" (Argentina)

Wow, this is impossible to even decide. There are a lot of movies I like but very few that I LOVED....I can't even think of any right now that I loved but I guess for now I'll say Brokeback, No Country for Old Men, Vicky Christina Barcelona....um...I'll have to get back to this.
