Just because a movie is old (The Snake Pit, Gaslight, Rebecca) does not mean it is obscure. All three are major releases with the full backing of the big studio. All three star popular actors at the height of their careers. All three are considered classic films. They are not obscure, even if you've never heard of them.

Black Robe, a 1991 Canadian production. Set in Quebec in 1634, the film is very accurate in its portrayal of the Native tribes, much more so than most historical films. Limited distribution in the USA, unlikely that very many have viewed or even heard of it.

Good choice indeed but couple of decades back it was somewhat known (I think?)

Even though Man From Earth is about 4 years old, I have never heard of it now heard anyone comment on it. I saw it on Netflix and rented, it was a pleasant watch for sure:

The most obscure movie I have seen was The Private Public. It was directed by Robert Altman's grandson Dana Altman. The movie was filmed locally and the cast mainly consists of a former Baywatch actress (Traci Bingham) and a bunch of MTV Real World cast members. To be honest, the movie is pretty bad. For anybody that likes those types of movies, give this one a try. The only reason I watched is that I had some friends and family that worked on it as cast members. My brother was even an extra in several scenes. The bio from IMDB is below:

"Zeke Lareau and Auggie Jacobs are two college seniors who have never met. Both are only a semester away from graduation, or so they think. During a night out on the town, a bar scuffle breaks out and mistakenly lands them in the county jail. After spending the night in cells joined by a window, they discover that although their personalities are night and day in comparison, they both share personal desires for Auggie's extremely liberated ex-girlfriend, Laina, as well as a desire for the truth. Zeke and Auggie soon find themselves engulfed in local stardom after teaming up in film class for a locally broadcasted mini-documentary that reveals Laina's lesbian life style and Zeke and Auggie's unique interests in her. But that stardom soon places Zeke and Auggie in the greatest struggle of their lives when their second documentary, which exposes a nationally acclaimed professor as a sexual offender..."
