I haven't really seen one. It seems that artists (especially in Hip Hop) are still making the same dumb songs in 2011 that they were making in 2005. I guess they refuse to let the recession put a damper in their "ballin." I've only heard one or two songs that even address the fact that our country is in a period of economic turmoil.

Here's one.

I think we've had other issues regarding musical content in the last, oh, say, twenty years. The recent recession doesn't factor into much of anything. If artists and songwriters put out junk, then junk is what you simply get.

It depends on what kind of gender it is. Some songs have recently been written to address or talk about these issues. Here is just one!

May I add discreetly? Not America only, but the whole world (except for few countries like China ) is in a deep recession these days. In fact, recession is an euphemism for what it is. It's a crisis at least.

"Socially-conscious" music, if you want to call it that, hasn't really had a lot of mainstream appeal since at least the 1990's, if not earlier. So, to me it's not a surprise that there isn't a lot of mainstream music addressing the economic turmoil of the last few years.

What's wrong with that one from the left? Is his chin up that high because his hair weighs heavy on the back of his head?
Only two right ones look nice.

Oh, I don't know, it's just a picture. The tune is about living in a rural setting mostly as John was raised in. The song is also the Chevy truck commercial song.

2005 had some crunk-music that at least had a catchy beat to cut a rug too.
2010-2011 has more auto-tuned hits than you could throw a dirty towel at.

Seriously, someone has to infect that software with a virus.

It seems there's less Emo nowadays compared to before the recession.. quite contrary to what one would expect.
