Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne outlived the breakup of The Move to form Electric Light Orchestra, though Wood didn't stay more than a year or two.

Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke from Free along with Boz Burrell from King Crimson and Mott The Hoople's Mick Ralphs went on to become Bad Company. They were managed by Led Zep's Peter Grant.

Not quite---you're thinking of Atomic Rooster, the band in which Carl Palmer played with ex-Crazy World organist Vincent Crane, who formed the group after he left Arthur Brown's group. To the best of my knowledge, Carl Palmer never played with Arthur Brown.

Surprised nobody mentioned this one yet: Out of the ashes of the Yardbirds---which left Jimmy Page both the rights to the band's name and a contracted European touring commitment---Page formed a New Yardbirds to fulfill that commitment before hustling them into a studio to cut a debut album under a new name . . . Led Zeppelin.

The former Yardbirds---vocalist Keith Relf and drummer Jim McCarty, plus erstwhile bassist/producer Paul Samwell-Smith---helped form a new band who cut one album under its new name before mutating into a very different lineup with a very different sound and becoming a popular album and touring unit for a few years . . . Renaissance.

Well, down here in Texas, we're sometimes a bit leery of all these yankees moving here. But these Yankees are OK in my book!

He did, but you're right about Atomic Rooster. Atomic Rooster was his last gig before ELP. Thanks for the clarification.

From his website:

Carl Palmer Official Global Web Site - Biography

At the age of 18, replacing drummer Drachen Theaker, Carl Palmer joined up with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown at the absolute peak of their success following the smash single “Fire”

Then there is one of the most influential bands to come out-ever! The Buffalo Springfield!

Steve Stills-part of Crosby Stills, Nash, and Young. Also helped form Manassas in 1972, along with former Byrd and Flying Burrito member Chris Hillman. They released two albums.

Richie Furay helped form the country rock band Poco. He left the band after their Crazy Eyes lp was released in 1973 and helped the form the Souther Hillman Furay band, which released two albums in 1974 and 1975.

Neil Young by far is the most noted member career wise after the Springfield broke up; Neil Young and Crazy Horse was just one of his projects.

Dewey Martin, drummer. Formed a group called Dewey Martin and Medicine Ball. They released an album in 1971 on the UNI label.

Bruce Palmer, bass. Released an album in 1970 on the Verve Forecast label called The Cycle Is Complete. It's kind of "out there", but I like it nonetheless.

Jim Messina replaced Palmer when the Springfield's Last Time Around was released in the Summer of '68. He was also helped form Poco and left after their third album (?) called Deliverin' ( a live recording). He teamed up with Kenny Loggins and their band released nine albums on the Columbia label through the 1970's. Not long ago the two got together and released a live album.

And of course Stills, Young, Furay, and Messina released lots of solo recordings over the last few decades.

AND the FWIW department. Richie Furay and Steve Stills were originally in a group called the Au Go Go Singers. That group released an album on Roulette in the early 1960's on the Roulette label. Nothing very trend setting here but worth noting.

Buffalo Springfield-what a great group they were!
