Someone posted an iPod question earlier and I just got to thinking: I haven't bought a CD in HELLA LONG! It has to be at least 3 years. I've been downloading since the late 90s but would occassionally buy a CD here and there. A couple of years back, I gave in to the iPod/mp3 craze and bought my first player. I haven't bought a CD since! What about you?

I still buy CDs. I don't own an MP3 player & I usually listen to music on my car stereo, anyway, so it works for me. I'm sure I'll have to give into the madness eventually, but I don't feel the need yet.

The urge will slowly creep up until one day, you just give in. That's what happened to me.

Honestly, the thing that turns me off is the whole earbud thing. I don't like sticking things in my ears! But I'm sure I'll cave in to the pressure within a year or so.

I know what you mean. You can buy other forms of listening devices. The earbuds come with the iPod but there are other compatible alternatives. I love taking road trips and having an MP3 player is da bomb. All I need is my iPod - no more CDs! You can also get speakers or there are also ways to connect them to your entertainment system.

I buy them every now and again. I have over 250 cd's , half of the collection as the rest were stolen some years ago. Lately I have been replacing the discs I have been missing for a few years. I just got my Ipod , maybe a month ago. I like the freedom of the Ipod but not crazy about buying individual songs. Yea the earbuds, I hate them but after having them in for a month they kinda just weld into your head. I did notice lately that alot of cd's are multi media format, not crazy about these. The few that I have I cannot get ripped onto my computer. Halfway through the rip it says stopped due to error and I have to delete it. I have been looking all over to replace my Bob Marley and Queen box sets that were stolen, still can't find them but my search will continue

Good luck with that OldMan! Yeah, the file formats with the encryption crap is such a pain.

I still buy CDs. I don't own an iPod or mp3 player because I hate having any kind of earphones or whatnot stuck into my ear. I listen to music either in my car (which has an awesome Mark Levinson sound system) or at home where I have a CD player in each bedroom and a surround sound system in the living room/den. With all that equipment available, there's no point in having music come through a couple of tiny speakers in my circa-2003 Dell laptop either.

I do buy all my CDs from Amazon because they have the best prices, no shipping, no sales tax.

I've burned about a dozen custom CD collections into "favorites" CDs, though, taking whatever tracks I want from the various CDs I already have... probably somewhere around 150. I also converted about 30 cassette albums I had, onto CDs, so my total collection is probably nearing 200.

Whoa, so many folks here don't like putting buds in their ears! Actually, iPods can be hooked up to your car or to your entertainment system. I'm not trying to persuade you either way but just wanted to inform you in case you were not aware.

Thay have some really nice headphones for the Ipod, but they are pricey. I just love the portability of the thing. I ride a motorcycle so for me now my bike has a stereo ! Working outside , whatever it is I can't seem to do without it. I am also becoming a podcast junkie, everything from sports, comedy to pyschology lectures I have on there. But I will always have cd's I think.
