I think just from a drumming perspective this is some of the best drumming that you can find.

I'd like to hear from some of the drummers on here.

Where does one start... strictly with Yoruban ritual drumming as it is practiced at the highest leve in Cuba, how it has shaped the Samba in Brazil, how it became the key to all forms of Salsa in Puerto Rico? Do we then go to how Chano Pozo, Mongo Santamaria, Ray Barretto, Tito Puente and Francisco Aguabella used it to transform Jazz and eventually wind up with drummers like José Chepitó Areas who played the Guaguancó

Check out how Cuba went to Mexico and back.

I'd be curious to see something on how the Vodou,Santeria and Candomble drummers are trained. I'd like to see the process of how they're taught the rhythms and drumming techniques that they use. Has anyone come across any videos or documentries about this?

It's not much of a mystery. You learn like everybody else has. You sit with a master drummer and and learn the three basic hand techniques to produce a heel/finger shuffle, a slap and an open tone. From there you learn the Clave (the basic rhythms) , from there you start playing the bass or mid-range parts until you learned how to play counterpoint and to solo.

There are all sorts of YouTube videos on bata, djembe, and conga drumming.
