Hoping this thread brings out some interesting songs.
Post a song from a genre not normally associated with the artist, e.g. "Hazy Shade of Winter", a rocker from a S&G, normally viewed as a folk duo. Could be a rap artist going straight rock, a rocker going classical, a metal band doing a polka... you get the point.
I'll start it off with the best one I can think of: Fountains of Wayne going old school country twang with "Hung Up On You".
Would YOU ever expect Vedder to play a ukelele(?)(well, something little and strummed) and sing this old standard?! After all, Mama Cass covered it! But, Eddie Vedder?!
When this came out, some wondered if it might not be by guys channeling The Everly Brothers. Who would have expected hard rockers like Extreme to be capable of this lovely love song? Gary Cherone + Nuno Bettencourt = magically musical moment *tingles*
