For those of you in the know, the last time Rush played in concert was more than 8 years ago. Then, the great drummer and lyricist Neil Peart lost his battle to cancer in January 2020.
At first, Geddy and Alex said there was no way Rush could go on without Neil. But now, they seem to have softened that stance. Even Paul McCartney told Geddy and Alex they should go back on tour with other drummers.
So, what do you think? Are we going to see a revival of Rush in the future?
The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and so so so so many more have continued on after losing a key player.
Trios you say? ZZ Top too.
I have not really paid attention to Rush since Moving Pictures, I still listen to everything up until then, just don't know their "new" stuff. If they came around, and tickets were reasonable, I'd go see them.
oddly, I just took the percussionist kid to see 'The Rush Experience' last friday and of course this topic was in the lobby before doors....
Alex as you know has authur-itis like bad and for a guitarist of his caliber...ugh.
they have said as you mentioned, they are not against it, but who to play...
Dave Grohls name has been bounced around...
btw - my fav rush song - Red Barchetta - they played so for the last 4 days I have been doing the haunting harmonic progressions over and over and over.
Led Zeppelin could never be the same without John Bonham, so Jimmy Page ended it. He could have milked their name for many more albums.
Rush cannot be the same without Neil. If they ever play with another drummer, I think they should use a new name.
