We don't usually think about how a famous piece came about and was presented to the public. I think we just assume that it happened, inevitably, without thinking of the behind-the-scenes machinations.



The Dancer Who Made Beethoven’s Ninth Happen
By the time Beethoven completed his Ninth Symphony, he hadn’t presented any major new work in a decade. He was by that point almost completely deaf, and many thought him crazy.
