Annoying, unnecessarily high-pitched dudes with tight pants from an era best forgotten?

-OR-

Catchy, funky, way-funky disco Gods with great songs?

I go with the latter - as if "Night Fever" is NOT the greatest song ever?

You?

When I think about the BeeGees, I think about the perfectly clean harmonies of their earlier recordings. If you have the ability to filter out the music and just listen to the vocal tracks, you'll be very impressed with the harmonies.

Ditto on their harmonies. That is very much missing in today's music. The pop factor.
Liked them a lot, although did very little hanging around disco's in the day.

If you get chance check out all the 60s stuff dating right back to 61 in Australia. They covered all sorts of stuff in that period, even "Blowing in the Wind"
Barry Gibb " The Kid`s No Good" from 69 is especially good...

What a great run of singles this group had before the disco era started. World, Words, Massachusetts, Lonely Days, Holiday, Great Mining Disaster 1941. Not much on disco but I will give credit where credits due. The BeeGees were head and shoulders were better than anyone else covering disco at that time. Saturday Night Fever remains the biggest disco seller in that area.

I don't care much for the Bee Gees but on the other hand I don't mind the Scissor Sisters. So I guess for me the issue is the execution rather than the concept. There are very few cases where the imitators do it better than the original did, but this is one of them. In my opinion, anyway.

Love the Bee Gees. Grew up listening to them. I remember being jealous of my sister who got to see Andy Gibb in concert. Yes, Night Fever rocks! There is just something about the Bee Gees that I will always love. Maybe because of great childhood memories of singing into the hairbrush with my sister...lol

Grew up with the Bee Gee's and they were/are great!!!
Way fun listening, dancing and partying!!!!
Songs of love, good messages, great inner spirit songs!!!!
Still listen to them and check youtube to hear them, no one plays them anymore. At least where I live.

In the early 80s I was in a band that covered Motown and other soul numbers. One of the few exceptions we allowed was To Love Somebody which Barry had written for Otis Redding. Sadly, Otis died before getting a chance to record it.
