i would have never known who sang it, and probably would not have listened if I did
I get that. There was a rap artist who I couldn't stand - as a person - but he came out with a really good song and I wouldn't have even listened to it if I hadn't heard him sing it on a late night talk show I watched. I think our preconceived opinions of people often outweigh their talent, which is kind of like judging a book by it's cover. Not a good way to live but it is what it is.
I don't really get it - not a bad song, but it didn't seem like anything hugely talked about before this year. Now all of a sudden I'm hearing about this song everywhere, memes, internet, TV - about how it's the "greatest thing" and "Mariah gave us the greatest Christmas gift of all" it's like the media has just decided "hey let's dig up this song and have it go viral as bestthingevah!" I dunno, weird.
