This was a classic era of Jazz with a wide variety of style and ground breaking technique and instrumentation that is heralded today. Tell the people your favorite artists, favorite albums, favorite songs, venues you went to, etc.

Laura Nyro had a few memorable jazz numbers, I am the Blues is one of my favorites. Beautiful interplay between trumpet and her piano. Another great from that era was Antonio Carlos Jobim.

2. Kenny Burrell
3. Lenny Breau
4. Stanley Jordon
5. Eric Gale

Thanks, great names.

Guitarist, I throw in Grant Green too.

John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan were outstanding horn players; a lot of these guys worked together and you could see the competition in the sessions and records. Pharoah Sanders was nice too...

Piano, Herbie Hancock McCoy Tyner come to mind.
