This is a hard one that I have a hard time formulating an opinion on. Anyone else want to share their thoughts and opinions?

It was a race for a few years. I bought albums from both. Zeppelin was far more influential in terms of presence and even playing style. I would listen to Cream again but rarely hear them on the radio and it has probably been a long time since I sought them out on my own. I might play a few songs after this prompt.

Much as I love Cream, I think that Led Zeppelin was more influential. They were active for more years, sold more albums, had more mega hits and are played more often today than Cream is.

If we include the female gender, then it would be Led Zeppelin.

Long-term fans of Led Zeppelin can tell you there influence goes back longer and deeper to the Yardbirds which had Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck with Jimmy Page. Due to Jimmy's history with extremely talented classical rock artists of the time, I have to go with Led Zeppelin as having more influence.

This is a very early clip with Jimmy Page on the guitar.

Zepp had more fans, songs, and influence, but personally, I liked Cream a little more because I was so young and had never heard such beautiful poetry and intelligent lyrics intermingled with rock music before and will always be grateful to them for that. I also liked Jack Bruce's voice better than Robert Plant's, plus I think he was more creative than Zepp's bassist. I can never answer who had the most influential drummer because Bonham and Baker were both equally great. I can also say the same for Clapton and Page's creativity. I think Clapton was a little more influential, but I think Page's style was copied more by newer musicians.

Not really.

One was a trio of musicians.

The other was the first Arena Rock band.

In influence, look at any rock act of the last 40 years and Zeppelins influence is obvious, the influence of Cream isn't so obvious.

Thats not to say that Zepp were better than Cream, or vice-versa, but they're apples to oranges.

Cream; better musicians and more original. Led Zeppelin had a great sound, but I think even the Yardbirds were more influential for recording a couple of good tracks.
