I know a lot of people, a lot, that listen to the Black Album and don’t like anything else from Metallica before that. I guess that is why that record is like 16 times platinum and remains in the rock charts after all these years.
Well, I wouldn't give the album 1 star, I do like it....
but it doesn't compare to their earlier work, in my opinion.
16 times platinum? I actually didn't know that.
I don't follow this stuff that closely.
oh well...
Back in the day when I listened to Metallica a lot favorites were similar to list below except I'd switch And Justice For All (loved that album and Master of Puppets was BEST...had that old cassette in car for 20 years!) with Ride The Lightning...Black album did very well commercially (with some hits like "enter sandman: etc but not as raw...still some solid songs though) but not as good as earlier stuff to me (would also put Kill Em All above it)...got Load and Reload too...didn't follow them too much after those although of course, they are an epic band!
