That's why Phil Keaggy won't make anyone's list, though he blows away nearly everyone mentioned in this thread.
Or how about Christone "Kingfish" Ingram....over 400 lbs...really young, born in 1999, yes...that young...
but he can play...check him out playing "Hey Joe" on youtube....
many videos...
Can't believe nobody has mentioned Allan Holdsworth yet.
Gets serious starting at about the 1:40 mark.
Roy Buchanan. You'll have to click on the link to see it. Check out the part starting at about 5:40.
Beyond that I'll add Steve Howe, and then ... I don't know who else.
Poster "BigCityDreamer" mentioned Allan Holdsworth back on february 7th....
sadly, only mentioned once ...he was great...I like a youtube playing "Tokyo Dream" 1984
which is great...fretboard tapping chords ...not just single notes.
I mentioned Roy Buchanan ...also back on february 7th....
there is a youtube a cool video of him playing "Roy's Bluz" on Austin City Limits in 1976...
playing his Telecaster ...through two amps ...a Traynor Custom Reverb and an old Fender Tweed...
and at one point he is showboating to the crowd...playing with one hand while holding a cup, drinking
with the other hand...
Apologies then, I missed them. I actually looked through this whole thread to look for them but I guess I didn't look close enough.

"Greatest of All Time" is a very subjective term regardless of the topic. So, for me, I would say my list is of guitar players who I believe are exceptionally talented and I enjoy listening to:
Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, David Lindley, Charlie Byrd & Laurindo Almeida
If not limited to five I would add to that list Grant Green, Howard Roberts, Bola Sete & Earl Klugh

Agree. Excellent choice! He opened for Buddy Guy recently.
