Hard to believe the Randy Rhoads plane crash happened 41 years ago today. He accomplished so much in such a small amount of time. Mentioned in several greatest lists during this thread. Even with his career cut short, still one of the best guitarists ever.
Awesome guitar playing in the middle of this song.
Who are your top five? Im not talking about song writing or songs recorded over the years. Im talking about guitar players who could just plug into an amp, no other musicians around (drummer or bass) and just play and totally kill it.
Mine are:
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Stevie Ray Vaughn
And in no particular order from 3 to 5:
Prince
Eddie Hazel
Eddie Van Halen
Honorable mention goes to:
Zakk Wylde
Jesse Johnson
Steve Vai
Randy Rhodes
Tom Morello - Greatest riff guy of all time
John Frusciante
Roy Clark
I think I'd put Roy Clark in a match up against anybody.
