King, Matchbox 20, White Stripes, Sheryl Crow, Dwight Yoakum, AC/DC, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Miriam Makeba, Liona Boyd, George Strait, Barclay James Harvest, Fairport Convention, Kraftwerk, and lots more.
Those are some great picks. I think Sheryl Crow is great too. Van Morrison, great, and Pat Metheny and George Benson, two great jazz guitarists. My brother's a jazz guitarist and knows Benson well, has been to his house in Jersey, he's a generous guy who really encourages young talent. Tell ya the truth though, I do like jazz but I really dug his R&B stuff. "Turn Your Love Around," was my favorite of his of that genre. His voice has a Stevie Wonder quality, doesn't it?

Recently I saw a documentary that featured a lot of live clips, and seems to me that's where they'd really shine. There's a great deal of improvisation in their live music, something you don't get on their albums. Plant and Page are like jazz musicians in that way. Anybody ever see them live? Do I overestimate?
No, you don't overestimate. All the great bands played better in the small venues. I actually still remember standing in front of the stage during their concert. It was definitely rock n roll in the purest form. At the end, Page handed us his guitar pick. You youngsters missed out on alot of great, great concerts.

I hear ya and I believe you. Page is a one-of-a-kind expressive guitar player and Plant as good a singer as I've ever heard. I know John Bonham has been gone for some time, but if I'm not mistaken they're doing it again, right?

D'you catch Page from China at the end of the Olypmics, up there with that new British singer? Can't think of her name at the moment.

Leona Lewis. Robert Plant performs with Allison Krause now. Interesting clip on Sunday Morning last weekend regarding their collaboration.

I've been to a lot of concerts but the very best--the ones that I couldn't get enough of were:

Rare Earth--Wow!
Chambers Brothers--Awesome live!
U2
Gladys Knight

I'm sure Stevie Ray Vaughan would've been included in this list if I hadn't gotten hurt at a White Snake concert and opted out of seeing SRV b'c I was gun shy but I really wanted to go. He died two months later. I sure wish I'd gone.

I was at both nights, July '86. GREAT Shows!

Other good ones I've seen (just off the top of my head"

Jethro Tull at the Fox in Atlanta
Gov't Mule recently at a very small venue in Raleigh NC
Numerous Grateful Dead shows from 84-95
Hole (yeah, it was actually a great show)
Neil Young with Crazy Horse
Almond Bros with Dicky Betts
Kiss (fun!)
CSN (no Y)
AC/DC, for those about to rock tour

And mostly, I like to see up and coming live music. Jam bands and bluegrass.
Bela Fleck when he first went solo with the Flecktones
Various arrangements of Strength in Numbers/NewGrass Revival bands
Acoustic Syndicate
Leftover Salmon
etc. etc etc....

for 25 years, I've always wanted to see Rush live, still have not done it. Would also like to see Prince Live, based on videos I've seen of him....

And would have REALLY liked to see the red hot chile peppers around the time of Freaky Stylie, but not the crap the put out for the last 10 years of their existance.....
