My mother too! ( Hi Mom! ) Actually this music is just sooo enjoyable! I used to listen to Geoff Duncan on CBC radio who had a program called My Kind Of Jazz that played tunes of that era as well. Right now I'm listening to (Yes, I'm plugged in) Count Basie's Cute, which became Martin Mull's theme song on Fernwood Tonight. Thanks for the tip, QW - really!

I love this stuff. I love the original artists, but I also love the contemporaries who play older tunes, as well as develop their own compositions.
I enjoy the
Red Clay Ramblers and
Squirrel Nut Zippers, too.
Both of those bands write their own material, but recognize the masters.
Back in the day, I really enjoyed
Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks. (This video is quite recent, but I saw him perform in '75 and again in '79.)

I never posted in the guilty pleasures thread, but I try not to let my jazz fan friends know that I love Paul Whiteman and Ted Weems

BTW - A Porter's Love Song to a Chambermaid - Fats Waller
