Do you prefer to listen to recordings of live performances, or studio mixes?

Why?

Myself, I think the arrangement makes the music, and I prefer to hear everything miked properly, correct levels, and done over again until they get it right.

I voted for studio, although I really do think it depends on the band. I would not want to see Steely Dan live for instance, but their studio work has always been meticulous and beautiful.

I like to hear the version I'm used to. A lot of time they change the words around when it's live. Also, I hate hearing the (mostly) girls scream their heads off during a song.

It depends on the sound person, because I have some great 'live" copies, that I love just as much as my "studios"!!!

I've got great live versions too!! But if you're used to that studio version you heard on the radio usually nothing beats it!!

I hear what you're saying, but when I put in a "Live" CD, and I love it, the cheers just help to magnify the songs. IMO

For most bands, Studio, but if we're talking a jam band like Phish, Grateful Dead, etc. than live.
That said though, if its a band I really like, I still enjoying hearing them live.
