There's an old movie with Dick Van Dyke called Cold Turkey. At the end of the movie, they have this band dressed up in marching band costumes playing a number of tunes. One reminds me of the circus or patriotic hometown celebrations. I feel it is a Sousa march, but it isn't Stars and Stripes Forever. I also tried looking it up, and they mentioned Hail to the Chief--and that isn't clicking either for what this song is.
One of the most controversial and, even now, confusing events in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica (The presence of this song, or it triggering the final five, is not ever really explained despite hinting it could be explained)
My Mom can't either. I told her about groups of priests, rabbis, etc deeming it spiritually significant and she was like "oh, well then maybe it's a good thing" but that didn't mean she wanted to ever watch it all the way through. Still it meant "I don't disapprove of it", which was nice. Dad has some hatred of Bill Murray so just hates it on that principle. (I'm 32, but I'm close to my parents and siblings)
Well then here's another song linked to the movie. As an addition I've added a version "Laura", which is a "jazz standard" that was created for the 1940s film.
