I'm just curious. I assume most on this forum are avid music fans, and tonight and tomorrow are some kind of holiday, if I'm not mistaken. So, will you go with Christmas music? Traditional or modern? Rock or jazz and leave the Christmas stuff alone? A combination of both?

Kathy Mattea Christmas will be on my playlist tonight. I'm lying. It already is playing right now. From the Christmas CD "Good News". What a beautiful voice. I love her music.

Christmas is someone else's holiday.

The playlist is a usual mix of classic jazz, a little pop and music from Brazil, Angola, Cabo Verde, and the Middle East.

I make a new holiday playlist each year.
We had dinner here at our house last night.
My brother in law did not like my music, he probably wanted something more traditional--but my kid and I did (husband and sis-in-law were neutral.)
This was what I came up with this year. It *is* in a bit higher gear than some may prefer. I do like the traditional stuff, but a little of it goes a long way with me.
I've been listening to this list since the day after Thanksgiving.

Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight) ~ The Ramones
Nutmeg ~ Colbert and John Legend
White Christmas ~ the Flaming Lips
Christmas Wrapping ~ the Waitresses
Can I Interest You in Hanukkah? ~ Jon Stewart and Colbert
Christmas Island ~ Jimmy Buffet
Winter Wonderland ~ Eurythmics
Gospel ~ MarchFourth Marching Band
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ~ Bela Fleck and Flecktones
Hot Christmas ~ Squirrel Nut Zippers
Please Be Patient ~ Feist
What's So Funny 'Bout Peace Love and Understanding ~ Colbert, Costello etc
River ~ Travis

I like Joni Mitchell's original River the best, but Travis does a very nice cover.
