HOOTERS made it pretty big too, though they are usually very underrated.
It was Ozark Mountain Daredevils who did "Jackie Blue"

Definitely agree with the god lives underwater post.

I also add:
Playa (late 90s RnB group)
VHS or Beta (mid 2000s dance-rock group)
Quicksand
Sugartooth
Cormega

The Primitive Radio Gods, who sang one of my favorites of all time.

I also wish The Wallflowers had more songs that were as popular as One Headlight was.

From the ashes of the Happy Mondays (who were way more famous across the pond than here in the US, was a fantastic band that had marginal success in the US, most folks haven't heard of them unless the followed the whole Manchester scene back in the late80's/early90's but Black Grape's album: "It's Great When Your Straight....Yeah" is so excellent:

Very distinctive sound:

If you've heard of them you may remember this song from alternative radio stations during the mid 90's:
(it made Vh1's "Pop Up Video" for some reason!

And for the record, there are plenty of bands that I wish made more albums and had longer careers, but I don't know that I'd wish the huge mainstream popularity on them since that usually results in bands losing their genuine essence due to insane major label execs., crappy music and band implosions.

For me it is definitely the 80's New Wave German band Propaganda as most have not heard their music even on the 80's radio stations back then and yet they had alot of great jams and music videos from the 80's.

I LOVE that band! I had that album vinyl and cassette when I was is High School in the 80's! A Secret Wish....
I wore that out and just recently found it on CD!

A sound of their own during that time for sure.
