One of my favorite R&B singers of all time. I'm sad to hear of his passing. The R&B artists of his generation had so much talent plus I love the fact that they didn't have thug personas like today's singers do.
Couldn't agree more. They didn't just have talent, but CLASS, and that's what Teddy epitomized. They dressed sharp and for the most part with FEW exceptions, conducted themselves well on and off stage. Not saying All R&B artists of that era were without their shortcomings and Teddy, I'm sure had his own. No one is perfect. However, compared to many so-called "artists" of today, there really IS no comparison. In fact, as time goes on, I am seeking out more and more of those classic hits.
I won't say ALL R&B singers of today are as you mentioned, but with Teddy, he did NOT have to get vulgar, obscene or loud in order for his fans to enjoy his music. He didn't treat females as mere sex objects like so many today do, but appreciated the entire woman. Granted. the majority of his core fan base were females, but likewise, his work could appeal to almost anyone. One of my faves of his is "Love TKO".
I also wonder "what would have been " has his accident not occured since he was at the pinnacle of his career at the time. On the same token, I feel everything happens for a reason and God had a plan. Teddy used his personal tragedy to help others in similar situations, and that in itself is admirable.

Very well said....
R. Kelley and the other Yayhoos of this generation should take note. But sadly they will not.
We will never see that type of class and talent again.

"Love TKO" is my favorite song of his. I love everything about it. It's so soulful. He expresses emotions that you just don't hear in songs today. Such great vocals. Plus I love the slow funky music with real instruments. It's not just my favorite Teddy song but one of my favorite songs of any artist,

Quite simply, one of the greatest voices of all time has left us for heaven.
This is not even close to an understatement. I remember my first husband, who was a classical musician, loved Teddy's music. I say that to show that Teddy knew exactly what he was doing. Other professional musicians knew what a great talent he was.

I couldn't agree with you more. The kind of natural talent and class that Teddy had cannot be bought. No matter how much money 'they' earn, they'll never come close to this man's innate musicianship. A once in a lifetime voice....days later, his passing still saddens me. Godspeed ~
