Neither song went top5, maybe not top 10. Both classics! I dreaded it at first when Graham left the Hollies. "Riding along in a carousel, tryin' to catch up to you." Ah, released in May of the "summer Of Love!"
Admittedly a big Moodies fan. Ride My See Song takes it. In concert, this is their encore song and had been for over four decades.
I think Ride My See-Saw is definitely the stronger rock tune, but I've always liked "On a Carousel". I like how it starts fairly low-key with a circular mid-60s guitar riff and builds, kind of like a carousel starting. This is In complete contrast to See-Saw, which is like Wham! from the start(The verb, not the band!!)). Plus the lyrics for On a Carousel fit the theme very well (Up, down etc…, will I catch up to you, etc…). Great harmonies too.
But Ride My See-saw is also a great track. The song just blasts off and doesn't hardly slow down at all. in my top 5 for the Moodies.
I like them both, so I can't vote.
