I would appreciate any suggestions and/or recommendations for a reputable/ trustworthy jeweler in the area. I am in need of various services: appraisals; repair; custom design; trade-ins, estate sales, etc.

Kays Jewelers at the Coastal Grand or Myrtle Beach Malls.

My family has done business with them all our lives and have found them to be straight shooters.

David

Disclaimer: I neither work for Kays or know anyone that does

I have good friends who have always used a gentleman by the name of Giusuippe. (I know I spelled the name wrong but I tried... ) I will get his business name and info for you and send you a DM in the next day or two.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate them. Someone also told me about a place called Christopher's in Pawleys Island. Does anyone know anything about that place?

And yes, rrufast, I would appreciate the business name, when you get a chance. I'm not in a big hurry......

@dlcamp - do you know if Kay's does custom design work? I will call them, but just wanted to know if you knew anything about that aspect.

Hey vrexy - Christopher's has been around for several years. They seem to be reputable but I don't know a lot about them. I'd also suggest talking with Whitmire's in the Hammock Shops, PI. He has been there forever and has a rock solid reputation. He did a little repair work for us and did an excellent job. IMO, he's a little pricy but that goes with his reputation. I don't know about trade-ins or estate sales, but he is very friendly and I'm sure would be glad to discuss them with you. A class guy.

Thanks, PD. I will investigate Whitmire's, too.

May be out of your way, but Renee at Ann Booth Jewelers in Conway does great work! My wife's engagement ring is a family heirloom and Renee did an outstanding job replacing a setting that holds the diamond and doing the sizing, we were very pleased, but that may be out of your way to drive to Conway. I have heard good things about Whitmires, never dealt with them myself though.

If you are making the trip to Pawleys, look into Low Country Jewelers, located across the street from the Hammock Shops in the Village shops. Ken & Allan are an odd pair that run the shop, but salt of the earth.
