I realize that this can be a subjective question as everyone has different experiences, but we are going to be building a home in Pawley's Island and I'm looking for recommendations for a builder who can be trusted to proceed with the project with honesty and integrity. We live some distance away, so though we will be able to regularly check on progress, we can't be there every day.
We have received a plethora of literature from many architects and builders, but you know, anyone with a good marketing dept can put together a good story.
Who are the local builders that the locals know will do work that stands the test of time for a fair and honest price? You know, the guys who YOU would hire to build your home.
And on the other side of that coin, if there is someone who consistently has negative issues/press regarding their work, i would appreciate a "heads up".
Thanks for any replies.

Contact Keith Duncan at Blue Ridge. He's built hundreds of homes on the south end and has an engineering degree from Tennessee.
He's built the most gorgeous homes in the area. I'll see if I can find one online.
Here are two of his homeshttp://www.prestonguyton.com/wachesaw-palms.php

This is just the sort of thing I need....but sounds unfortunate for the builder you mentioned.
I didn't even think to check the BBB in the area, so thanks tons for that link.
Again, I realize that it may be uncomfortable to reply on the forum as folks often hae different opinions, so feel free to send a direct message if you care to reply that way....

The BBB is something you have to PAY to be associated with.
I know Keith personally and have known him for over 25 years.
Ask anyone in town about him and they will acknowledge his stellar business ethic and reputation.
Most people already know the BBB is pure BS.
goingtocarolina, you asked for a local builder, I was born and raised here, know just about everyone on the Grand Strand from Little River to Pawleys Island, and I gave you the absolute best builder.

And I thank you for that, Blueheron.....! I have put his name on our list of potential contacts and will form my own opinion; he may not be a good fit for us, but maybe he will- ya never know.
The BBB can be a good resource when looking for services/businesses, but I know that its often the "unhappy camper" who approaches them; funny how as a culture we seem to be more inclined to complain than praise, isn't it???

I can only hope you did not go with Keith duncan as I did. He did shifty work and failed to live up to his contract. I will gladly show my contract to you or blueheron and the work that was never finished or fell apart. After Keith was paid he never came back to finish the job as contracted. I am not the only person this happened to, and we can only hope he can never do this to anyone again.
