My wife and I are going to be moving to the Myrtle Beach area in October. Since the summer season will be over, we figured it would be a good time to find a decent year round apartment for between $600 and $700/month. Having grown up on the New Jersey Shore, we know after Labor Day the business slows and rentals are more readily available. Is this also the case in MB? We have a pretty tight budget and we are looking to spend around $700.00 a month. Is there anyone who knows of any 2-3 bedroom/2bath possibilities? We do not have children, but do have adult family members who will be living with us. So school districts aren't a priority for us.
Also how about the job market? My wife has experience in recruiting, hiring, and training within a Pharmacy Retail company, and I have worked as a Casino Security Supervisor/Asset Protection in Atlantic City. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
tdjr, I wouldn't recommend moving to Myrtle Beach without already having a job lined up. Most of the jobs in this area are tourist industry related and in October people are cutting back not hiring. I am not sure how you would do finding something in your fields of interest, as I said, most jobs are in the service industry. As for your budget, it is tight but not impossible. I don't think you will find a 3 bedroom for that price, but you might find a 2.
OP: glad you posted this..we live in jersey also right by the GWB and my hubby just got a job offer in surfside beach. hes an airbrush artist/bike painter so touristy is pretty much how we make our money..we ve never been though..we are thinking of taking a ride down to see if we like it first. all my family is here so we'd be leaving allot plus we're in and out of the city in 10 min and i dont know if sc would be too much of a culture shock for us..can anyone recommend any family communities to look into..near malls, supermarkets etc.. rental or to buy also, thanks.
Also something I learned with renting in MB is be prepared for the 3xs monthly rent rule. Most apartment complexes I have seen will make you meet a min money requirement of making 3xs the monthly rent. Some apartments even require you to carry a certain amount of renters insurance. No one told me those things when I was apartment hunting, found them out on my own. Also depending on what your idea of decent is you probably wont find too many apartments, hopefully you have better luck then my husband and I with apartment rentals. My husband and I ended up having to give up and purchase a place. I wish you good luck with your move.

We haven't picked out a house in a area yet, we are going though the financial process of it first. We are in the process of getting prequalified.
