If so, how'd you go about it? My wife and I want to but we dont know how to go about it. We will be quitting our current jobs but will still need to work once we're there.

She's a nurse so no worries there. Plenty of work for her. There is no market for my profession (programmer) but I'll find something. We have plenty of money to buy something and live until I do. I'll be semi-retired meaning I won't need what I currently do/earn but I still need to do something.

So did you buy first then look for work, or find a job and then a place to live?

We have five pets so renting is out of the equation. Will probably buy existing as opposed to build since that is quicker.

I'm retired so finding a job was not an issue.

I stayed at a pet friendly motel in NMB for 3 months while working with a realtor. I have 2 cats and was able to get a monthly rate in off season.

I knew I wanted to live in NMB though before I came here. Figured I'd work with a realtor first and if nothing came up at the end of the 3 months I'd look for a pet friendly apt to rent for 6 months at a stretch while still looking for a place to buy as the motel rates were going up for the summer season.

My husband and I had a deal that if either of us found a job we would go for it! I found a job pretty quickly and he decided to change careers ( he is now a realtor) when we got here. We had a place to live before we got here which made it much easier. Bought our now home after being here a year so we were sure where we wanted to be.

Ninny899...if you are in search of a realtor I can give you the name of the guy I used.
He's been here doing RE for over 15 years. Very knowledgeable about the area and even recommended a few local tradesmen after I closed as I wanted some work done (new ceiling fixtures, etc).

Send me a DM if you want his name.
