Local mentoring programs (Florence, Myrtle Beach, Conway: office, best, county)

I've been interested for a long time in volunteering in a mentoring program for kids. They don't have a local big sister/big brother here, so does anyone know of another program I can volunteer as a mentor. The only thing is, it would have to be in Horry County, hopefully Myrtle Beach, South Strand or Conway. Thank you!

Their annual fundraiser is July 30 at the Waccamaw Shrine Club.

It's not quite mentoring but have you heard of the Guardian ad Litem program? You work with children and represent their best interests in family court. There is, of course, some training and a background check.

This is a state-wide program with a local office in Conway not far from the court house. A very worth while program and they need volunteers.
