Hello...new forum member here, and I'm in need of some help! I'll be relocating to Naples (from Tampa) in August to attend Ave Maria in the Vineyards.

My problem: I can't find anywhere to live, due to having a cat. All of the great places I've found have had "no pet" policies. In college I always rented at apartment complexes and never bothered mentioning my cat, but now I'm looking at condos to rent and I'm assuming sneaking her in is a big no.

I'm trying to stay under $1000/mo. for a 2 BR, and I really want a cute place I can take care of that will feel like my temporary home - not the standard cookie-cutter apartment.

Do any of you have some feedback? Where should I avoid that would make the commute to the Vineyards unbearable? I appreciate any advice!

good luck..if its a private owner then most likely they won't allow pets.. Almost all the apartment complexes allow pets well most but its hard to find a private renter that allows pets. Plus with ur budget of under a grand for a 2 bedroom u might be a bit limited if you want something unique or cute.. Most places here are for the older retiree people who don't want kids of pets around. U might be better off looking for an apartment complex

It seems that a lot of apartments/condo's are indeed cat friendly. You might need to put down an extra pet deposit but you should be okay. My advice would be just to keep looking.

I'm not familiar with the Vineyards but I see that it's in Naples. Since you are planning on living in Naples, your commute won't be too bad. The biggest annoyance are all of the lights on 41 but 41 is still the best way to get where you're going quickly (assuming it's a shorter distance....if longer, use 75).

It seems weird to me that while my complex (Lakeview) allows pets, if you rent your unit, the renter is not allowed a pet...... I would think that would be my decision.....

Of course, pet rules are like most HOA rules. If no one complains, you can bend the rules. My condo allows one pet under 20 pounds. The lady we bought from had two large cats. The family next store, the wife being an HOA board member, just got a Pit Bull. No way that dog will stay under 20 pounds.

Are you talking about Ava Maria University?.......Isn't that way out on Corkscrew Rd? If so, it's a ways away from the Vineyards. I would think you would have an easier time finding a cat friendly rental in that zone. Best thing to do is get a realtor that has rental lists. There are maps that show the rentals by location and when you click on the house it tells all the details about it...so you can click on the ones near your school.

Ave Maria Law School is in the Vineyards.
