The apartments themselves will most likely be decent. Violent crime is uncommon and generally against people who know each other or put themselves in such situations. Like anywhere else, if you go looking for trouble you will find it.

The issue here is that the environment of the apartment complexes tends to attract folks who find themselves in those situations. Loud parties, fights, and general activities that you may not want to be around tend to be concentrated in lower income housing areas. In Naples that includes apartments-in general.

There's not much middle class in Naples and housing is scarce for what most people would consider middle class. That leaves apartments. There tends to be a lot of immigrants and some do resemble third world countries, though not any of the ones you are looking at.

That said, what fingerprint says is true. There is crime in all levels of housing and with all income levels. The reason she says avoid Section 8 housing is the same reason I suggest avoid apartments if possible.

I'm trying to give a balanced, realistic perspective here, and not to scare you. These places are not war zones. I'm just suggesting that condos are quieter and more selective about their tenants which contributes to a more appealing environment.

Have you talked to a Realtor?
Thank you for the well written response. I understand there is a lack of middle class but it seems what middle class there is will reside in the apartments I listed (san the 701) because they are affordable and on the safer side of town. Sure I could spend the money on a condo but if I get the job it'll most likely be for around 30-35k a year before taxes. Figure I'm bringing in 28k. The general rule of thumb is 25% on rent so thats 7k a year which equates to $583/mo. So I'm already going well over that to live in the safer areas of Naples. Going any higher would lead to financial turmoil.

Have you ever been to a least developed nation? There are very very few places if any in America that compare. Naples I don't believe is one of them.

Realtor
I was under the impression that Realtors were primarily for the Purchase and Sale of property. That's how they would make commission. If you know of one that works with finding an apartment to rent I would certainly give them a call.

Yes, I have been to a third world nation. No, Naples is not one of them. Some of the apartment complexes and some small areas of town do share some characteristics of third world nations.

Realtors also handle rental properties and they get commission from them. The market is geared towards seasonal rentals and above your price range but there might be some options for you.

I would contact these folks and ask them: Naples Area Board of Realtors - Naples Real Estate | MLS Listings

Well thanks all but unfortunately Naples decided to go with that other person. I'm thinking because they were local but not really sure.

Its okay on my way home from Naples I actually was asked for an interview and this morning they offered me a position. I called Naples to check because I would've preferred the position there but they told me "sorry we've been busy and didn't get back to you but we extended an offer to someone else and they accepted, if we need a second person we will contact you."

The job was for a full-time teaching position at The Community School of Naples

Sorry to hear that. At least you found out one way or the other.

Good luck in your new job.
