I thought it might be informative to start a thread on things to do with kids.

Here's a fun days family adventure. It cost nothing and you'll have a lot of fun doing it. All you need are tennis shoes and a swim suit.

In the Winter, the Peace river gets very shallow. If you drive to Arcadia, just a few miles North of here, you can wade in the Peace river with a kitchen colander, scoop up river sand and collect sharks teeth. It makes a great afternoon picnic and everyone will find some.

Our Grandson's think it's a wonderful place.

Beth

There's a big National BBQ cookoff at the Collier county fairgrounds this weekend from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Collier County Fairgrounds, 751 39th Ave. NE., Naples.
MMMMM BBQ. I saw that in the Naples paper this morning.

For the bigger kids, Naples Motorsports sponsors a breakfast club once a month on Saturday morning. It's this Saturday. It's open to all sports car fans. Its free breakfast with lots of interesting people to meet and cars to see. Kids like cars. You can join their Cars and Breakfast Club and they'll send you an email when they're having it. We've met some very nice and knowledgeable car people there.

They're also sponsoring a sports car poker run on Saturday afternoon. I'm sure there will be a lot of exotic cars in it. We're going to enter our toy although it's not that exotic.

Looks like a good weekend.

Have fun

Beth

It's a Spring fed river so it's probably around 70 degrees maybe a little more. If the rivers down, you'll only be up to your knees in the middle. You can find teeth anywhere, you don't have to go deeper than your ankles to find teeth.

Here's a website from one of the local campgrounds. They publish the river height. Peace River Water Level and Weather Conditions - Canoe Outpost Peace River

Have a fun time.

Beth

We took Kerri Road out across the glades to Devils Garden and then looped back through Immokalee. Beautiful drive through some very interesting countryside.

If you like nature and birds, this place gets a great recommendation. Bring your camera. It's a great day trip

I want to go there. Did you go on the tour through the property? What birds did you see?

Beth, that hadn't come up on our radar. Thank you for the link...we are always looking for TTD when non-golfing company shows up here.

We saw ivory billed woodpeckers, limpkins, sandhill cranes, caracara and lots more.

I should mentioned that Kerri road and county 846 were in all very good condition. Perfect for a sports car. We did it on a Sunday morning, no traffic just a few groups of motorcycles.

The state forest there and the Oakloacoochee slough that Kerri road crosses are primeval looking and pristine. This is from the Okaloacoochee Slough forestry website.

"The Okaloacoochee Slough is one of the few places in South Florida in which pre-Columbian landscape, north of the Everglades or in Big Cypress National Preserve, can be observed."

It looks like it did before Columbus.

Have Fun

Beth
