Not sure where its somewhat scenic and neat well kept. I have a limited budget but want to go where there is potential. Any suggestions would help. Looks for a very reasonable lot to build or small house to work with. Was also told to try Ft Myers but I see lots of foreclosures there and some too reasonable prices..which would be great if the area is not crime ridden and falling apart which I dont have any idea about. So locals please make suggestions. I did see an area called Royal Palm Golf Estates but few are built and unsure where its going> up or down??? Ideas, opinions?

Not to sound disrespectful, but your OP is vague and, you sound like a long distance looker with little experience in the SW FL area, and wide open requirements.

Have you spent any time in SW FL? Do you/spouse play golf/want to live in a golf community? Do you really want to build a house vs buy an existing house?
In developed community, with other amenities, or a single house all by itself in a non-HOA community?

Condo or house? Budget???

Not my biz, but by expressing some of your interests, req's, budget, etc. will elicit more specific suggestions.

I lived in NJ/NY for 3 decades; but it's analogous to me posting on the NJ or NY forums from afar, that "we want to move to north Jersey or metro NY, Where should we...", in terms of getting good sound info, imo.
