I was searching the threads and have not found any recent postings in reference to health care in the Naples & Bonita Springs area. Most of the posts I found were very old. We are going down in the next month or so to check out Village Walk in Bonita Springs. I'm interested in residents feelings who live there in reference to the quality of the care and how hard it is to find a doctor when your on Medicare, and new to the area. We have friend who just purchased a house in The Villages in Ocala and want us to look there. After reading threads even on the Villages web site it seems like there is a real lack of doctors and quality care in the area. And very hard to even get treated in the ER if needed.

Your best bet is to call up some places and find out if they are excepting new patients, I’m fairly sure that you will be more than happy with the care down here, I’m pretty sure that you will be able to find a physician that you will be more than happy with. In season the emergency rooms can be fairly busy but out of season it’s fine. We have many hospitals within a small area to chose from. Naples and Bonita has a lot better than average health care system compared to many parts of Florida, being that there are a lot of retirees here it’s kind of a melting pot for doctors. Village Walk in Bonita is a nice development it has just under 30 homes for sale at the current moment ranging from the low $200’s – nearly $500,000 so you’re bound to find something to suit. If you need any help when you down here or have any other questions please feel free to contact me.

I've been in Naples for quarter of a century, and one of the things we've had consistant issues with is adult GP care. I've been through 3 GPs since we've been here.

I rarely see "my" doctor anymore for anything, and have started using Redi Med Urgent Care. They take my insurance, and I've never waited more than 10 minutes to see the doctor.

It's hard to get an appointment with "my" doctor in the same week, and then, you get to wait hours to see the nurse practitioner. I have not seen the actual doctor in years. This was the same situation with all of them.

If I need antibiotics for an ear infection, or colchicine for my gout that's keeping me home from work, I simply can't wait a week to get it.

Our pediatrician is a different story.... She has been an absolute dream to work with in the 19 years we've had kids here.

I've lived in GGE for many years and am quite satisfied with medical care at NCH. Go to the Medicare site and search for doctors that will accept Medicare approved amount as payment in full. Clicking on the doctors name will show if they are accepting new patients. Even if it doesn't say they are, never hurts to call.
