I'm building a home in Naples and I am planning on having a swimming pool and possibly a spa. I just moved here from Connecticut where I had a hot tub which I did use in the winter months. Living in Fl I'm not sure if I would use the spa as much as I think I would like to.

So for those who have spa's, do you use it, how often, If you had to do it again, would you just get a swimming pool, or would you still get a spa. Thanks!

I'm in the early stages of building in GGE just a couple miles from my current home. If I had to make a choice, I would pick the spa over the pool. The next home will have both. My pool temp is 71 this morning, way to cold for me. The spa would heat to 102 in about an hour, very nice for the evenings. Next pool will be a sport style with max depth of 4 1/2 feet. No swimming for me, just lay on a float.

I think you'd be best served having both.

Of the 66 SFHs in our HOA, surrounding 2 1/2 golf holes, 50 homes have a pool/spa combo.
I haven't 'polled' every homeowner, but from anecdotal conversations with nearly every fellow neighbor, few admit they have actually gone in their pool more than a few times, over the ~8 yrs since these homes were built.

Many do like the spa portion; usually a hot top sized affair that spills into the pool, or can be used as a self contained hot tub deal.

Other than many neighbors saying the occasional visit by grand childrne fills their pools, few say they go in, and rarely in the 'winter season' due to time to heat/cost for that body of water. And, most are smallish for true swimming...and, our clubhouse has a large pool, lap pool and hot tub.
All fwiw,
GL, mD

We have two heated pools and one very nice, very warm hot tub in our complex. One pool is just a few steps away from my unit, but no hot tub. The other pool is 3/4 miles away but also has the hot tub. I ride my bike to the pool area with the hot tub. I like both.......
