Tuned in tonight to the local radio station 93.7 for some of my usual light listening. However its changed to some god awful heavy metal. Seems as if its now being branded as 93x with heavy metal as its chosen genre.

The website still exists, but streams heavy metal. Wikipedia says on June 19th, it changed its branding to 93x, and thats really all i can find out about it.

Does anyone have the scoop on why this has happened ?

Its not looking good for SW Florida radio listening.

Satellite radio is the solution to this. No changing formats and no commercials on most stations.

Once you have it, you'll never go back. It is in the same category as cell phones and high speed internet.

I don't even have my AM/FM presets programmed on my car.

This......... I've had XM and now Sirius since 2000.

I do keep a few FM presets, but haven't even tuned to an AM station in at least several decades!

I had it, but the sound quality is very questionable. They claim CD quality sound, but in reality you get highly compressed digital sound which once you allow it to annoy you, you can no longer accept its substandard quality. Even FM sounds better, providing you have a strong signal. Satellite really can make certain instruments sound as if they're being played underwater. The final straw for me, is you have to pay !! I'll take it if its free. Besides a lot of stations are now going HD Radio hdradio.com providing your car stereo takes HD, it sounds pretty good.
