I'm having a new home built and am concerned the preserve behind it is flooded. I know there has been record rainfall this summer but I'm concerned once the house is built and we move in that there will be water back there all summer which can lead to more mosquitoes, humidity or possible flooding on our property. I would like another lot but am already in contract. I've spoken to the builder but have not heard back from them yet about my options, it doesn't sound good though. Am I overeacting? I don't think I am but I'm not from Florida and don't have experience with this. Opinions?

The floor of your house should be 36 inches above the highest point of the road in front of the house.

If you are in town today go take some pictures of the standing water on the lot............... may help to prove your point.

Thank you all so much for your posts. We worked it out. The water wasn't as bad as we thought. In the aerial shots they sent it looked worse than it was. We saw new closer up pictures and the water is just in the preserve about 4 feet lower than the actual lot. We spoke to an engineer and the builder and all seems fine thank goodness!
