My partner is set on moving back to Miami in a year from the West coast, (he grew up in Miami).

I am thinking it would be better to live in Naples, but it has been a very long time since I have been there.

Are there any bars or night life in Naples?

What are the pros and cons of Naples? For two young professionals without children, would you consider Miami a better fit ?

I would love to hear input! Thanks

Honestly, there is very little night life in Naples. Only one or 2 relaxed atmosphere jazz type "clubs" where you can get a drink and an appetizer. Some of the younger people (below 40ish) go to the Blue Martini or Pelican Larrys which is a little more upbeat. Naples is very quiet. If you like that you'll love it. If you don't you will truthfully be very bored.

Depends on what you are looking for. Miami is crowded, fast paced, traffic is horrible. But, there is a lot of night life and a high end bar/club scene.

Naples is slow and lazy, easy to get around, good restaurants with an older bar scene. Great beaches, beautiful landscaping, manicured. In season, the downtown restaurant/bars are packed with loads of rich people. It is not very big and getting more crowded every year. Traffic gets bad, but nothing like a real city (NY, Chicago, LA etc). There are bars and clubs in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, but it's a long drive if you have been drinking.

Best to visit both areas for a week or so to check them out before you make any decisions.

Thank you all so much! I appreciate the input. You confirmed for me what I had thought, which is that it is very nice, but very laid back.

There's no comparison between the two regions. If you want late night, then check out Mercado area in Naples for a more vibrant younger crowd, plenty of restaurants etc. The area has changed a lot (for the better) in the last 10 years or so. Old Naples area basically shuts down at midnight most of the time, a reflection of an older crowd. Way more choices for golf, and because it is a wealthy community, there's plenty of cultural events that come to town.
Miami has professional sports, and more of everything, including crime, traffic, pollution, and less privacy.
It's a great place to visit, but if you don't like living in a big city (LA/NY/Chicago), you won't like it there.

Its a retirement community. The only nightlife are knitting clubs that end at 8 pm. Mercato has a movie theater and Pub.. that's some night lift.. Miami and Naples are black and white when it comes to any sort of culture
