After moving to Immokalee I found it to be a much better place than "advertised". Yes, I'm an extreme minority as a white pastor, but I have found the people to be extremely friendly. Our congregation is a mix of the population. I have visited in stores and homes. I have conducted business. I have not run into one problem. I love the sports, even when we don't win. The city supports the schools. This may be a lower economic place to live but the people are rich in love and caring. I have a ball interacting with our sports youth, guys and gals. They are the friendliest young people I've met.

We live off Immokalee Rd/ 75 I and travel into Immokalee for the Mexican restaurant Mi Ranchito. Their seafood soup (Caldo de Marisco) is worth the trip.

I have a pretty good number of friends that live in Immokalee and I can't think of one that would rather live anywhere else in SW FL. That certainly says a lot about the place.

It's great to see the positive comments. I just attended the Seniors' Night basketball games this past Friday. I sat down with several folks and all were completely delightful. There were several "Cheering Grandmas" and I knelt down during a break and asked them which kids or grandkids were theirs. "They're ALL our grandkids." That gives you the heart of Immokalee.
