It attracts people with limited means. Many of the impoverished are economic survivors or are from Latin American countries where there may be an attitude that, "What you have can be replaced, but I don't have anything, so I will just take what you got". I would never live in the Golden Gate area due to the high crime there. You have been warned. Look at the Crime Maps first.
Golden Gate City is NOT the same as Golden Gate Estates. There is very little crime in Golden Gate Estates. You are confused about these two very different areas. What you are describing sounds like Golden Gate City. Golden Gate City is bounded on the west by Santa Barbara Blvd, on the east by Collier Blvd, on the north by Green Blvd and on the south by somewhere close to the interstate I75. Golden Gate Estates is north, northeast, and east of Golden Gate City, but definitely not the same environment.

REALLY?!?!? Your work requires you to have personal conversations with the people who live in Golden Gare ESTATES!?!? I doubt that! Way too many independent and hard working people out here. We live quite happily & actually know our neighbors and talk to them because we want to! There is VERY little crime out here. With our properties being at minimum 1 acre each, I really doubt you are referring to this area of Collier County. It's agriculturally zoned and on a nice weekend afternoon, you'll hear people target shooting or riding ATVs in their backyards. Golden Gate Estates is beautiful (I grew up in Hudson County, New Jersey - believe me, crime is NOT an issue out here).

A few years of helpful HOA harassment and he might change his mind.
