hello...

our quest continues...my husband is exploring another employment opportunity next week.It is in Fort Meyers...if this works out...they like him...he likes them...this is a second interview...seems positive

we have decided to rent first...then buy in a new build community...in
Naples

we have 2 dogs which are a standard poodle 40 pounds, and a boston terrier 18 or so pounds

house or townhouse...
1,700 to 2,000 or so a month

the enmployment would be off 876 and Techster Blvd... we want a 30 minute or less comute...

so questions about the rental market
how to find such homes...
neighborhoods to avoid...we only have looked in anples but are open to Bonita Springs and even Fort Meyers for the rental...
any info on rental ideas would be welcomed...

thanks

You'l probably be better off asking this in the Ft. Myers forum hopefully for that budget you can find something in Lee County. That would probably be a tight squeeze in Naples in most places but Lee should be a bit cheaper

Unfortunately the biggest obstacle you'll have is your dogs. Many CC&Rs in communities prohibit pets in a rental, even if owners can have them.

If you're set on Naples then look at an area with no HOA and that is close to I-75.

The 40 pound dog may be a deal breaker. Even places that allow dogs often say 20 pounds max.

And, as we have said before, once "season" starts, you can spend 30 minutes just getting across town in Naples or Fort Myers. You would have a tough time getting from North Naples to Fort Myers in 30 minutes in summer when there is not much traffic.

Rental rates in Naples are high. IMO, you should be looking in Fort Myers closer to your husbands work. Once you get settled in and he can make it to work without going crazy, you can look at places to build.

Once you see the traffic in season, you may reconsider driving from Naples to Fort Myers every day.

Actually, the driving from Naples to FM isn't that bad in my opinion. I often go to Fort Myers throughout the year and it's not nearly as bad as FM to Naples (even in season).

However, if I were the OP, I would seriously consider Estero or San Carlos Park, kind of splitting the difference.
